Billy Napier Reasserts Control at Florida With Unwavered Verdict After Losing Mark Robinson to Kirby Smart’s Georgia

by News7

The Gators will supposedly have no trouble swimming through the waves that Mark Robinson’s exit caused. Despite his own share of controversies, Kirby Smart has been successful in luring away Robinson from the jaws of the alligators but eventually will land the HC in more trouble.

Mark Robinson, the newest Chief of Staff in Georgia, has quite the stacked resume. The 44-year-old began his career with the Texas A&M Aggies back in 2003 as the football operations assistant and has been shifting teams ever since then. While most of his career was spent in Texas, he also teamed up with Jimbo Fisher at Florida State. Yet, it seems like he wasn’t too eager to accept the job with the Gators, as he was way too quick to jump ship and join hands with Kirby Smart. But as per Napier’s comments, the HC isn’t too concerned about his absence either.

As per Scott Carter’s tweet on 30th July, Billy Napier doesn’t seem too worried about the fact that Mark Robinson has left for the Georgia Bulldogs just 6 months after joining the team in January of this year. While wishing him well for the future, Napier also mentioned how the program wouldn’t have too much trouble finding someone to fill his shoes.

The tweet highlighted Napier’s comments towards Robinson’s decision to leave for Kirby Smart’s Georgia and said, “#Gators HC Billy Napier addresses departure of Chief of Staff to Georgia. Wishes him well, has known Mark Robinson a long time, no chippy quote. Says there is no problem in drawing interest from strong candidates to replace him.” Seeing as how Robinson was such a fresh hire for the Chief of Staff role, the Gators will be able to replace him as quickly as he was brought in. Though Robinson’s absence won’t drastically affect the team’s performance, it will certainly have an impact on Billy Napier’s reputation which already seems to be hanging by a thread.

In 2021, Napier took on the role of the 29th HC of the program and joined the Florida Gators. Since then, the team has been struggling and has failed to procure any real results. They won only 5 games last season against their 7 losses and that’s not all. Their 2021 and 2022 records both stand at low scores of 6-7. The Gators’ fans already deem him to be the most “pre-fired” coach in the sport, which, judging by his record, isn’t too far off.

Since Florida plays eight top-25 level teams, the program always tends to fail to contend for the playoffs. The schedule is such a tough one that an argument for 8 wins sending them to a playoff, can be made. Napier’s job is definitely in jeopardy at the moment since the past 3 seasons haven’t made him out to be an elite coach yet. Thus, going into his 4th year, it is highly possible that this could very well be his last season in Gainesville. Additionally, the tipping factor for Napier’s exit could be the fact that they have lost to their rivals, FSU, for three straight years in a row. This is something that’s highly unacceptable to the fans and since they play their arch-rivals on December 1st, that could be the day when Napier is removed from the team.
