Team Liquid’s perseverance on the Rift makes every series feel like a slugfest. Their previous 2-0 win against PNG last week kept them in the brackets. But while they’re up against a smaller region, a couple of wrong maneuvers can risk their ticket to Quarterfinals until not even their spearhead TL Yeon can bail them out.

GAM Esports has only lost to a top-seeded Western team so far in the Swiss stage, so all bets are off. Read about the series highlights in our Team Liquid vs GAM Esports recap below!

Team Liquid vs GAM Esports Game 1 Recap

GAM Esports went with a defensive comp that had tons of teamfight potential down the line to shut down Team Liquid’s advances.

GAM Kiaya was the first to be caught under their turret, but quickly turned into a 1-for-1. The lane swap kings of NA had trouble contesting however since no one could dive Braum-Ashe so early in the game.

Meanwhile, GAM’s toplaner worked with their jungler to punish TL members who were down Summoner Spells. GAM Emo also did his part, finding sick Shockwaves with Orianna to give his teammates an edge.

GAM was so far ahead on map control, kills and gold 15 minutes in that Team Liquid felt like fish in a barrel. Wherever their opponents swam, Kiaya and co. were like a swarm of piranhas that were never far behind.

Blood was in the water, and even when TL won a teamfight eight kills behind, GAM still got the upper hand and secured Nashor, the entire midlane and the first Nexus of the series.

Liquid had a huge start with two kills 2 minutes in. The gold boost gave them a headstart in the laning phase, and UmTi’s team was determined to make it last. A Baron take later, and Team Liquid were poised to take an extremely dominant Game 2.

By the 20-minute mark, Team Liquid finally looked like an LCS roster. calculated risks around the map, Kiaya and co. were left in the dust as TL’s jungler led the way for a decisive 1-1 tie in the series, and the most one-sided game in Worlds 2024.

Team Liquid vs GAM Esports Game 3 Recap

Team Liquid opted for a reactive comp to bury any possibility of GAM getting the upper hand. That said, they weren’t playing to their strengths; a big risk for bigger rewards.

Another scrappy skirmish kicked things off for TL, letting them claim an uncontested Herald. GAM found a few more picks around the map, with GAM Emo getting the most. But the gold lead ballooned early thanks to Liquid’s objective lead.

TL Impact’s K’Sante absolutely shone in this match, and it showed in his playmaking around the Rift. From saving teammates with his ult to leading the charge from Baron pit, the toplaner never hesitated.

From there, Team Liquid enjoyed a 12-6 lead that couldn’t be denied. One Baron later, and the NA boys were knocking on GAM’s door. While the VCS reps almost repelled the assault, a sneaky teleport from UmTi behind enemy lines pried GAM Esports’ defenses open and paved the way for a solid series victory. Team Liquid will live another day for the Swiss finals.
