Google Workspace AI-powered tool targets streamlined video creation

by News7

Tech giant Google (NASDAQ: GOOGL) has announced a video creation tool powered by artificial intelligence (AI) for private and enterprise users to improve and streamline the video-making process.

Dubbed Vids, the AI-powered tool is designed primarily for work and is intended to assist users in “building narratives” for their businesses using generative AI. The tool, integrated with Google Workspace, offers users a deep pool of royalty-free stock content and a built-in recording studio.

Announcing the latest development, Google’s Community Manager, Karan Singh, said users can create high-quality videos without leaving Google Workspace, a move the technology giant says will significantly improve AI adoption levels. A cursory look at the offering reveals several use cases, like creating scripts and voiceovers and merging synthetic content and human effort.

The offering will rely on the capabilities of Google’s machine learning platform Vertex AI and Gemini while offering support for several English accents and tones to expand the scope of generated videos.

Users can add their content from Google Drive while leaning on several existing templates to speed up the creative process. By using text prompts, Google Vid users can set the ball rolling with the offering supporting real-time collaboration with team members.

Still in its beta stage, the project is only open to select users, with the company’s statement hinting at a preference for Gemini Alpha users. Ahead of a commercial launch, the company says it will be stress-testing new features to ensure safe use without the downsides of copyright violations.

“It’s here: Start testing Google Vids today,” read Google’s announcement. “Vids is an AI-powered video creation app designed for work and deeply integrated with the Workspace suite you use every day.”

To enjoy the full breadth of features, Google noted that users of the AI-powered video creation tool will have to use the two most recent versions of Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge (NASDAQ: MSFT) browsers.

It is important to note that videos created using the offering will be limited to only 10 minutes, but there is speculation that the duration may be extended upon a commercial launch.

Embedding Workspaces with AI

Google has been making inroads with AI and other emerging technologies, integrating a wide range of offerings into Workspace, its collection of productivity and productivity tools. Before Google Vids, the company introduced new AI tools for students by integrating Gemini into the platform.

The feature has seen surging adoption levels by educational institutions, with Google pledging additional data protection for students using the platform. The company said inappropriate content will be automatically flagged while students will be introduced to generative AI via a comprehensive video.

In order for artificial intelligence (AI) to work right within the law and thrive in the face of growing challenges, it needs to integrate an enterprise blockchain system that ensures data input quality and ownership—allowing it to keep data safe while also guaranteeing the immutability of data. Check out CoinGeek’s coverage on this emerging tech to learn more why Enterprise blockchain will be the backbone of AI.
