A fast-growing offsite specialist firm has appointed a Mace director as its new chief operating officer.

Shaun Tate has joined Reds10 after 17 years as a director at Mace, where his work included launching and running a business unit for offsite pre-manufacture and assembly.

Tate has 35 years’ experience in construction, including leading major projects in sectors such as commercial, education, and biopharmaceutical and medical facilities.

In June, Reds10 announced its third consecutive year of growth in both revenue and profit. Its revenue for the year to 31 March 2023 rose by 32 per cent to reach £83.8m, more than doubling since 2020/21.

The privately owned, London-based firm said Tate’s expertise “will be instrumental to setting the foundation for the next phase of the company’s growth trajectory”.

“This includes building on its successful platform approach, harnessing more production and delivery methodologies, bringing innovative solutions to a wider client base, and driving operational efficiencies and social value.”

Matt Bennion, chief executive of Reds10, said: “Like us, Shaun is passionate about changing our industry and is a real innovator in the delivery of high-quality offsite construction. His major project experience and drive will help us to accelerate our ambition to become the leader in a new breed of tier one contractors, so that clients have a viable and sustainable alternative to traditional delivery.”

Tate said: “I genuinely believe our industry is at a crossroads, and we have a unique opportunity to redefine how the built environment is delivered. Offsite construction methods offer an opportunity to drive more intelligent solutions that will enable clients to benefit from a far more predictable and controlled construction delivery experience.”

At the time of its recent annual results, Reds10 said it had an “extensive pipeline of government work”.

It has begun £60m of construction work on separate projects for the Ministry of Justice, the Department for Education and the Ministry of Defence.

In addition, the company has places on frameworks such as the Crown Commercial Service’s Offsite Construction Solutions, and London Housing Consortium’s new Modern Methods of Construction of New Homes framework.
