by News7

75% of healthcare professionals expect widespread implementation of AI in three years, according to a new Berkeley Research Group study. That’s quite the positive response for a technology very new to healthcare.

What’s more, 87% of provider respondents are confident in their organizations’ ability to comply with regulations surrounding AI, the study finds. Another unusually huge response to artificial intelligence.

In this week’s podcast, James McHugh, managing director at Berkeley Research Group, talks in-depth about the results of this new AI in healthcare study, offering advice to CIOs and other health IT leaders along the way.

Talking points:

Nearly 60% of provider respondents are providing some form of internal training and education on AI, and 55% of them are establishing AI-specific guidance on proper use.

While the healthcare sector has taken steps to self-regulate as a matter of necessity, it still has more to do.

Just 37% of provider respondents indicate their organizations are either reviewing or planning to review regulatory guidance to ensure proper AI implementation.

Six in ten provider respondents view current AI regulations and guidance as providing adequate safety measures for the use of AI. Where does this optimism come from?

87% of provider respondents are confident in their organizations’ ability to comply with regulations, while indicating that HIPAA violations, accuracy, safety data privacy, and ethical standards remain top of mind.
