Suki partners with Amwell on telehealth AI

by News7

Suki announced Tuesday that it has partnered with Amwell to integrate its Suki Assistant artificial intelligence into Amwell’s Converge hybrid care delivery platform used by providers at more than 2,000 hospitals and health systems, including Cleveland Clinic, Northwell Health and Intermountain Healthcare.

WHY IT MATTERS

Suki’s voice-enabled digital assistant for healthcare will be available directly within the Converge platform, and connect with Amwell providers’ existing workflows.

Amwell’s Converge does not require patients to download apps, and features chat-based support, mental health services and in-visit enrollment for clinical programs, according to Suki’s announcement. The platform also matches consumers with providers, provides referral management and has a 95% visit-success rate.

Suki Assistant leverages natural language processing to help clinicians complete notes 72% faster on average, according to the company. The AI voice assistant also supports coding and dictation, and generates incremental revenue for organizations.

Punit Soni, CEO and founder of Suki, said in a statement that in partnering with Amwell to power the AI voice experience of Converge, clinicians can focus more on patients.

Suki also said that its AI voice assistant delivers nine times the return on its investment in the first year.

THE LARGER TREND

In August, Cerner added Suki’s ambient voice technology to complete documentation with bidirectional sync. In September it partnered with MEDITECH to integrate Suki Assistant into the company’s Expanse EHR.

Early in 2023, small health systems began using ambient voice technology and generative AI to improve EHR workflows.

Dr. Elizabeth Goff, a family medicine physician at CVFP Medical Group, a physician-owned, primary care organization based in Lynchburg, said in a statement that the use of ambient voice AI earned her back “countless hours.”

ON THE RECORD

“Implementing AI voice technology into Amwell’s hybrid care platform not only helps their providers avoid the burdensome documentation work that leads to significant burnout across the healthcare industry, it also helps providers be more engaged during appointments,” said Soni.
