7NEWS reporter Angie Asimus has welcomed her second child, a baby girl named Scarlett, with husband Chris Abbott.
The news and weather presenter’s baby was born on her first day of maternity leave.

The news was announced on Thursday on Sunrise by friend and colleague Edwina Bartholomew.
“Some very exciting baby news, our very own Angie Asimus has welcomed her baby girl Scarlett,” Eddy began.
“She was born late last night, weighing in at 3.27 kilos.
“(Wednesday) was supposed to be mum’s last day of work, so poor Angie on her first day of maternity leave – no rest there.”
The presenter added that Angie’s older child, Austin, two, is unaware he has a sister but is “on the way to meet her”.
“Mum and bub are both healthy and happy and doing very very well,” Eddy added.
“I spoke to Angie this morning. She said she’s looking for tips on how to handle two.
“So if any viewers have them, please provide them to both of us.”
Eddy is also a mum of two, having welcomed her second child in March 2022, a son named Thomas. Her older child, Molly, is three.
And Sunrise co-host David “Kochie” Koch has four grown children – Brianna, Alexander, Georgie and Samantha.
Upon hearing Eddy’s light-hearted appeal for how to handle two small children, Koch jokingly said, “Two? Really two?”
“That’s nothing for Mr Four,” co-host Natalie Barr quipped.

Angie posted on Instagram on Monday that it was her “last 6pm read of the summer. Not long to go now”.
She added the hashtag “countdown”.
The star announced the pregnancy in August, writing on Instagram at the time that “2023 is looking good”.
Angie and Chris married in February 2020 after 12 years together.
