Sophie Delezio, the plucky burns survivor whose courage has inspired a nation over the years, has revealed she is pregnant.
The 23-year-old, who lives in Sydney, shared the happy news on Instagram on Wednesday.
“The greatest gift of all, coming in September!” she wrote.

Delezio shared a picture of herself and fiance Joseph Salerno standing on a beach, with Salerno’s arms wrapped around her and her burgeoning baby bump visible under a white dress.
In another photo, Delezio shared a recent ultrasound picture of her baby.
Followers went absolutely wild over the news.
“AH! SOPHIE! This is just the most wonderful news, congratulations xxxx,” one follower wrote.
“Congratulations, you are both going to make the most incredible parents. Little munchkin is sooooo lucky,” said another.
“Beyond happy for you all, so special,” added a third.
Delezio and Salerno became engaged last year.
Announcing the news on Instagram, Delezio wrote: “Here’s to forever with you,” adding an engagement ring emoji.
Delezio and Salerno were good friends for years before becoming romantically involved — and now they are about to become parents.
“The best news in the world,” one follower gushed.
“Enjoy every minute of this special time.”
“So happy for you, wonderful news, you will be an amazing mumma,” another said.
”Congrats Soph and Joseph!! So happy for you guys!” added a third.
Delezio was badly injured and suffered serious burns when a car crashed into her Sydney daycare in 2003, when she was aged just two.
In a second devastating accident, she was run over by a car near her home in 2006 when she was five years old.
Delezio grew up with all of Australia behind her as they watched her remarkable recovery from these two shocking incidents.
She and Salerno became a couple during the COVID pandemic in 2021.
Salerno popped the question on February 14 last year — Valentine’s Day.
“She turned to me, and I was down on one knee bawling,” he told The Australian Woman’s Weekly after the proposal.
“Our go-to song is ‘Be My Baby’ so I just asked if Sophie would be my baby and luckily, she ticked the box on the back of the scrapbook that said yes.”
