NYT ‘Connections’ October 24: Clues and Answers for Game #501

Today’s Connections puzzle is hard, so if you’re in need of some help, look no further. Newsweek has clues to assist you in beating today’s game.

Connections is The New York Times’ second most popular word game behind Wordle and is played by users across the globe.

Previously, Wyna Liu—Connections developer and New York Times crossword editor—told Newsweek the response to the brainteaser has been “overwhelming.”

“It’s exciting that something I care very deeply about is resonating with people,” she said.

Keep scrolling for Newsweek’s tips and answers to Connections #501.

How to Play ConnectionsConnections is an easy game to pick up thanks to it’s simple but fun rules. To begin, players are given a set of 16 words in a grid format. Players must then pull four groups of four words into categories based on a common connection.

The categories are color-coded based on difficulty and range from yellow to green to blue to purple. Purple is considered the trickiest one to get correct and yellow is considered the easiest.

When users are ready to send in a response, they’ll click on the words they would like and press “Submit.” If the words are correct, they will flash in the category color and will be removed from the board. If they are incorrect, however, they will remain gray in color and stay on the board.

For instance, in Wednesday’s puzzle for it’s 500-game milestone, the words “beret,” “goblin,” “salad” and “thumb” were associated with the category, “Green ___.” This was a green category.

Luckily, there’s no time limit to the game, so you’re free to spend an entire day thinking of your next submission if you’d like. That being said, players only get four guesses before the answers will be revealed.
