The stakes have never been higher as the oldest rivalry in the LEC — G2 Esports vs Fnatic — clashes on the Summer Final stage for the third silver shield of the year.
Fnatic has risen from the ashes this Summer like a phoenix. Finishing just outside the top three in the regular season, they claimed a place in the best-of-three’s (BO3) stage to go on a win streak — even beating the Kings of Europe on the way to their Final spot.
G2 Esports have been on a dominant run of their own. Despite being knocked down to the lower bracket by Fnatic, Caps and co. are hungry for revenge, making them more dangerous than ever.
G2 Esports is the closest to claiming all splits this season. Will they be victorious, or does Fnatic have what it takes to stop Europe’s best in their tracks? Learn more in our G2 Esports vs Fnatic best-of-five (BO5) predictions guide.

G2 Esports vs Fnatic Prediction: German Superiority
Judging from their form this season, G2 Esports is poised for their third silver shield, cementing 2024 as their best LEC run yet. That said, there are still some chinks in the armor that Fnatic can exploit to avoid a 3-0 wipe.
Consistency Is Key
Winter and Spring both saw G2 Esports take on reworked rosters, LCK-augmented teams and Worlds-level threats. On both counts, Caps and co. ended up on top.
It’s common to see the powerhouse flounder a bit in the early stages. But rest assured, the German org knows how to adapt to anything and get back stronger. It’s what’s gotten them this far.
League of Their Own
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: G2 Esports have surpassed expectations time and time again with stellar performance on the Rift. Even when they came into MSI 2023 after their failed Spring performance, the boys still managed to hold their own against LPL and LCK teams.
Promises to improve from their lacklustre performance last May have been met with interest. G2 Caps’ team have stayed consistent in both macro and meta advantage this split. So we’re very confident in their ability to take this BO5 3-1 and win the Grand Final El Clasico against Fnatic.

G2 Esports vs Fnatic Preview
You’ve heard our predictions and betting odds for G2 Esports vs Fnatic this Sunday, now let’s look at how each team has fared so far — and what can improve their chances of winning.
G2 Esports
G2 Esports is the LEC’s strongest bet for Worlds right now, and for good reason.
The team’s mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Winther has been compared to Hall of Legends inductee Faker soon after his career began. And the Rift shakes whenever the team’s top laner and G2 Yike get any kind of lead in the early game.
But what makes G2 so lethal is its bot lane duo, who often serve as the tip of the spear.
Steven “Hans Sama” Liv and Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle has seen tremendous improvement in their champ pool and overall tech. And they synergize with the rest like a well-oiled machine, making G2 Esports a season-winning roster.

That said, the team’s macro isn’t perfect. For instance, they are slow to go on the back foot evem when Caps or Hans Sama lose their Summoner Spells. They also tend to sacrifice strong crowd control to experiment with AD champs in the draft, which can feel like a coinflip at times.
G2 Esports Roster
Toplaner: Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik
Jungler: Martin “Yike” Sundelin
Midlaner: Rasmus “Caps” Winther
Botlaner: Steven “Hans Sama” Liv

Fnatic
Fnatic took their Summer Final spot after they managed to edge G2 out of the winner’s bracket last week. The Silver Scrapes BO5 saw Fnatic take three carry champs to match Caps’ threat, and it worked.
In the last minutes of their last series, Fnatic were able to take complete control of the maps with passive vision and strong plays from Jun’s Rell. If they can spend more time and energy focusing on Caps, the team might stand a chance at another BO5 tiebreaker. But G2 is known to learn from their mistakes.

Jungler: Iván “Razork” Díaz
Midlaner: Marek “Humanoid” Brázda
