G2 Esports vs T1 Recap – Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage Round 4 Day 2

The game everyone was waiting for when the draw was first drawn, G2 Esports vs T1 is here and we have the recap.

We’re still at the Swiss Stage in Berlin, but we could easily be sitting down to watch a classic. T1 is the star of LoL, but as T1 fell away, G2 rose to the top. Once G2 won MSI, it sparked a shift in what a top team was as G2 took down SKT, and went on to claim the title. Sadly, since then, G2 has not won another World title, but their rivalry with T1 is still on another level. Now, in Berlin, these two sides go together once again, but this new era of T1 is not here to mess around.

It’s a Best of 3, but we wish it was a Best of 5. Below is our live recap of the G2 vs T1 BO3 at Worlds 2024.

The History of G2 Esports vs T1

G2 Esports vs T1 Game 1 Recap

Game 1, a chance to get the bad moments out of your system. But in a Bo3, you don’t have much time to turn it around if it goes wrong. The start G2 did not want as they gave over the first blood to T1. While G2 were able to get a kill back in the bot side, a smart outplay from Zeus saw T1 regain the early kill and gold lead. Our first “big” fight broke out around the Baron bit with G2 just about coming away with a lead, and a slight advantage of the Grubbs. By the 20-minute mark, T1 had pulled ahead by 3k Gold, with G2 needing to regroup if they wanted to avoid this first game getting away from them.

A bad teamfight for G2 put them in a bad spot, with their support picked off, they handed over the Soul Drake to T1, who then went on to claim the Baron. With Baron, and more miss-steps from G2, T1 were able to claim the mid inhibitor with a now 7k good lead. The reset was enough, as T1 came back to the mid lane, forced a fight on G2, and claimed three kills. They turned that into a base push and Game 1 was over. Some ok moments from G2, but they have a lot of work to do if they want to keep this series alive.

G2 Esports vs T1 Game 2 Recap

A huge Game 1 from T1 as they rolled back the years on G2. They now have it all to do, with two games left in the series at best. It’s back-to-back first-blood deaths for Mikyx as T1 once again claimed the first win. G2 continued to have a rough start in Game 2, losing kills to T1 who started to snowball. Hope for G2 came as T1 pushed hard down the mid-lane, but, a big play from Caps secures a kill onto Zeus but it only really recovers the play rather than being a win for G2.

While G2 were behind, they had enough to make plays and in the 23rd minute G2 made a huge play in the mid lane, taking down four members of T1 for just two in return. It was a small win, but a win it was. Another huge moment in the fight, T1 once again the ones to force it, and it started poorly for the Korean side and continued to go the same way. With four members down, Gumayusi was left alive as G2 secured an ace. With that, they forced a Baron play, with everyone on T1 waiting to respawn. With Baron, G2 were able to force open the T1 base as they found themselves ahead for the first time in the series.

G2 were caught out on a follow-up fight on the bot side, with a great TP behind from T1 forcing G2 back as they dropped two members. Soul Drake is secured by T1, but a huge play from G2 as they caught out Zeus. T1’s base is broken open once again, with two inhibitors down as a misplay from T1 gave G2 a huge advantage. G2 then took a risk of their own by taking a flipped Baron, but Oner is able to steal it. On that, however, G2 forced their way top side as they looked to end the game. G2 forced a fight but a massive counter from Zeus kept T1 in the fight and turned it around for the Korean side.

It was G2 once again looking to end the game, with all three inhibitors still down for T1. It came to nothing once again as G2 couldn’t break through as two inhibitors respawned for T1. With things resetting and the Elder Spawning, T1 found a way to take down Caps as T1 claimed the Elder and moved toward the Baron. With Baron and Elder, T1 forced into the G2 base, with them unable to defend, that was it. T1 had overturned the lead G2 created to claim the series.
