His concern for his aunt’s health was clearly portrayed on his face while he was recalling all the positive moments he had shared with her over the years. Even during the post-match press conference, he was asked to reflect a bit about the role she played in his life.
In a reply to those queries from media personnel, Sinner revealed, “My aunt, she’s a very important person, because when my parents, they were working every day and all day, so sometimes when I had to go to ski races, I went with her.” For those who are unaware, Jannik Sinner‘s first love wasn’t tennis, it was rather skiing! Reason? “I was winning a lot when I was young in skiing, and in tennis, I never won,” he said during a previous interview. However, with time he later started to lose in skiing as well because he wasn’t ready physically to compete at that level. He was a bit too skinny. Later on, he was forced to make a switch to tennis.
His aunt has played a vital role in giving him support in the early phases of his career. Speaking more on this, Jannik Sinner added, “She always helped me in the summertime when my parents were working and I had some days off or free days. When you are young, you don’t go to practice every day. So I hung around a lot with her, and she’s a very important person in my life.”
