Safety must come first in every construction project, especially for those attempting home DIY projects, as they might not have as much experience. It’s advised to wear eye protection and a hard hat. Protecting yourself during renovations is not just for the ones doing the work either.

A couple who was doing some construction on the house wanted to make sure their dachshund named Winnie was ready for the project as well. They turned the camera on her and she looked up at them with her big brown eyes. Those eyes screamed that she was born for this kind of work.

They prepped Winnie by adding a hard hat. Well, it wasn’t necessarily a hard hat, but it did the trick. It was strapped on and ready for action, covering her entire tiny head.

The caption reads: “Safety first lil lads.”

How Viewers ReactedThe December 9 TikTok video reached over 11.3 million views, 2.7 million likes and 10,300 comments. People are obsessed with how adorable Winnie looks in her work outfit and praised her work ethic.

“Winnie looking to the left and right … for safety purposes,” said a viewer. You have to be ready for anything.

Even the official TikTok account for Lowe’s noticed Winnie’s safety. The comment reads: “Great job Winnie!”

But for others, the safety hat was not enough.

Someone asked: “Where are her goggles?! This is an OSHA violation.”

In a more recent TikTok video, Winnie’s parents upgraded her work outfit to include not only the hard hat but goggles and a bright orange safety vest. This small working machine is ready for whatever construction project they throw at her next, which they most likely will.

“Winnie is always a big help to her mom and dad,” the owner told Newsweek.

Pet Safety During ConstructionThere are plenty of steps owners should take to keep their pets safe during a construction or remodeling project. You should stick to your pet’s normal routine, as a changing house with new smells or sounds can cause them stress. Always keep tools and toxic paints in an area that pets cannot access.

Better yet, try keeping pets in a separate area if possible. Create a safe, quiet space for them to relax, as projects often are loud. West Park Animal Hospital suggests using white noise, soft music or other noise blockers to drown out the construction sounds.

If you are not home during construction, it is advised to keep pets in a crate. Owners might also want to consider boarding them during the duration of the project.
