Milwaukee to host 2025 and 2026 USA Triathlon Sprint and Olympic-Distance National Championships and Paratriathlon National Championships

USA Triathlon, in partnership with the City of Milwaukee, Sports Milwaukee, and Visit Milwaukee, has announced that Milwaukee has been selected to host the 2025 and 2026 USA Triathlon Sprint and Olympic-Distance National Championships and the 2025 and 2026 USA Paratriathlon National Championships.

Milwaukee has previously hosted the USA Triathlon Sprint and Olympic-Distance National Championships six times, most recently from 2021-2023, and 2013-2015. The 2025 event is scheduled for August 8-10, and the 2026 event will be on August 7-9.

The USA Paratriathlon National Championships will be included in the three days of racing in both 2025 and 2026, offering elite and developing paratriathletes the opportunity to race for national titles as part of USA Triathlon’s largest annual event.

“We are thrilled to head back to Milwaukee for USA Triathlon Sprint and Olympic-Distance National Championships and the Paratriathlon National Championships,” said Victoria Brumfield, USA Triathlon CEO.

“The city has been a beloved destination for our national championship event for several years, offering an idyllic venue for triathlon. We have developed strong relationships with local leaders in Milwaukee whose partnership has given us the ability to offer outstanding championship events in Milwaukee for triathletes from across the country.”

USA Triathlon and VISIT Milwaukee are committed to coordinating with local entities such as Discovery World, The Bartolotta Restaurants, Milwaukee World Festival (Summerfest), and Milwaukee County Parks, among others, to accommodate all events taking place along Milwaukee’s lakefront.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome back the athletes, attendees, and organizers for USA Triathlon’s National Championships,” said Visit Milwaukee President & CEO Peggy Williams-Smith.

“This event contributes significant economic impact to our community and showcases many of our stunning natural assets. We are so grateful to our local partners in hospitality, in local government, and our first responders who have gone above and beyond to help us welcome this event in previous years and will help us again in August.”

Athletes will swim in Lake Michigan, which provides cool water temperatures and a breakwater in Milwaukee’s bay. The bike course traverses the Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge and the Lake Freeway, as well as Lincoln Memorial Drive, which will be closed to traffic during the event. The run course travels out along Lake Michigan on paved trails through the scenic Veterans Park, returning on the shaded Lincoln Memorial Drive.

In 2025, racing will begin on Friday, August 8, with a 750m open water swim competition. The open water swim is open to anybody, and no qualification is required to compete, however athletes must register for the event.

On Saturday, August 9, athletes will race the qualification-based Olympic-Distance National Championships, which features a 1,500m swim, 40k bike and 10k run.

The action continues Sunday, August 10 with the qualification-based Sprint National Championships, and the Paratriathlon National Championships, held on a 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run course. Registration for Paratriathlon National Championships will open soon.

Registration for 2025 USA Triathlon Sprint and Olympic-Distance National Championships is currently open for participants of this year’s event. Following this early-bird period, registration will open for all qualified athletes and non-qualification events on Wednesday, November 6.

Both the Sprint- and Olympic-Distance races will serve as qualifiers for the 2026 World Triathlon Age Group Triathlon World Championships.
