Mirinda Carfrae is a luminary within the sport of triathlon. She won the biggest races in the world – became Ironman World Champion on Kona and won Challenge Roth, among others – and was a true inspiration to triathletes all over the world. The top Australian athlete now announces her retirement.

“The feeling is absolute and complete happiness! It’s almost overwhelming as I reflect on my journey as a triathlete spanning over two decades. This sport has gifted me with lifelong friendships, a beautiful family, and the opportunity to represent amazing companies who believed in me and became part of my journey. Throughout my time as a triathlete, I have experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, but I wouldn’t change a single thing. I am grateful for every moment, every challenge, and every triumph, as they have shaped me into the person I am today.

I have LIVED my dreams and created memories that will last a lifetime. The risk I took to embark on this journey to become a triathlete has been the best decision of my life. But now, it’s time I move onto the next chapter and I can’t help but feel excited about what’s to come. I am certain that this new journey will bring just as much fulfillment and joy as my time as a triathlete.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to express my deepest gratitude to my A team who have helped guide my every success as a professional triathlete. My coaches Siri Lindley, Erin Carson, and Julie Dibens, have not only shaped me into the athlete I am today but also supported me through every high and low in my career. My managers, Shannon Delaney and Wendy Ingraham, have been instrumental in paving the way for my success and providing the support and guidance I needed to succeed.”
