Stephen Curry and Chris Paul have been popular NBA DFS picks for years, but daily Fantasy basketball players will have to decide if they can be trusted when they set their NBA DFS strategy for Friday, Jan. 14. Curry, who’s among the highest priced players on both DraftKings and FanDuel, enters Friday’s matchup against the Bulls averaging 26.4 points per game, which ranks sixth in the league. However, Curry is in a bit of a slump, scoring 14 points or less in three of his last five outings.
Paul, whose PGA DFS price is $7,900 on DraftKings and $8,100 on FanDuel, is one of the main playmakers for the Phoenix Suns, who are averaging 111.8 points per game, the sixth-best mark in the NBA. Paul enters Friday’s contest against the Pacers averaging just 11.2 points per game in the month of January. Can those household names be relied on as NBA DFS picks on Friday? Or is it time to fade them in favor of players with a significantly lower price tag? Before locking in your NBA DFS lineups for Friday, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.
McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.
This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.
On Thursday, McClure included Nets superstar James Harden as one of his top NBA DFS picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Harden stuffed the stat sheet against the Thunder, finishing with 26 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, three steals and three blocks. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.
Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Friday, January 14, NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.
Top NBA DFS picks for Friday, January 14One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for Friday is Rockets center Christian Wood at $7,400 on DraftKings and $7,200 on FanDuel. Since a one-game team suspension on January 3, Wood has come back strong over his last five starts. During that span, he’s averaged 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals, and his best game in that run was also his most recent, a win against San Antonio on Wednesday.
The Rockets have yet to play the Sacramento Kings this season, who are their opponent on Friday night. However, Sacramento is a bottom-three Fantasy defense against opposing centers, the position that Wood has exclusively played this season. Wood has led Houston in offensive usage rate in three of the last four games, and is poised to do so once again tonight. In Sacramento’s last game against a true center, Cleveland’s Jarrett Allen finished with 18 points, 17 rebounds and two blocks.
Another key in McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Charlotte point guard LaMelo Ball ($8,900 on DraftKings and $8,000 on FanDuel). Ball has been playing well in January, averaging 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game this month.
He’s coming off a strong showing in Charlotte’s victory over the 76ers, recording 13 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and one steal. Ball has recorded eight or more assists in three of his last four games, and he gets a mouthwatering matchup against the Orlando Magic on Friday. The Magic are giving up 25.3 assists per game this season, which ranks 25th in the NBA. Ball is a complete steal at this price point, so confidently lock him in your NBA DFS lineups and look for a big return against Orlando.
How to set NBA DFS lineups for Friday, January 14McClure is also targeting a player who could go off for massive numbers on Friday because of a dream matchup.
