Carolina Panthers (3-9) at Philadelphia Eagles (10-2), 1:00 p.m. Sunday
The Line: Eagles minus-13/Total: 46
What is the line telling you:
The Eagles opened with the biggest point spread this week of anyone on the board as 13-point favorites. Surprisingly, there has been no movement on a side, but we have seen the total move from 45.5 to 46, so Vegas is expecting some points here. The early action has been titled heavily in the Eagles’ favor, with 82-percent of the tickets and 90-percent of the overall money have been wagered on Nick Sirianni’s team. Regardless how bad the Panthers’ record is, Jalen Hurts has struggled in the market anytime his team has been a large favorite. When the Eagles, with Hurts at quarterback, have been seven-point favorites or better, the Eagles have only covered the spread only 23-percent of the time.
Bottom line:
At the current point spread, this really a tough game to handicap, because the Panthers have been dismal against the Vegas numbers. They have outperformed the market only 41-percent of the time. Winning by two touchdowns or more is something the best teams in the NFL have a hard time doing. The Eagles have beaten only three opponents this season by 13 points or more. By the recent play of the Panthers, losing to field goals to Tampa Bay and Kansas City, Carolina, I hate to say, is the pick.
