Source: EA SportsEA Sports has unveiled details about the upcoming Oct. 4 release for NHL 25.
The game was officially announced on Thursday, with Jack, Quinn and Luke Hughes revealed to be the cover athletes while also unveiling the official reveal trailer.
The Hughes brothers were all elite prospects who wound up being selected in the top 10 of their respective draft class. Jack was the No. 1 overall pick by the New Jersey Devils in 2019. Luke joined him on the Devils when he was selected fourth in 2021.
Quinn, the oldest at 24 years old, was drafted No. 7 by the Vancouver Canucks in 2018. When the Devils and Canucks played in Vancouver last season on Dec. 5, it marked the first time they shared the ice in an organized game at any level.
“Of course you dream you’re going to play with your brothers in the NHL one day,” Jack said prior to that matchup. “You’re in the basement, hanging out, playing, but you never really think it’s going to become a reality. For it to happen, it’s definitely pretty wild. It’s three kids in one game.”
Quinn is the reigning Norris Trophy winner and was voted the 15th captain in Canucks’ history prior to the start of the 2023-24 season. Luke was named to the All-Rookie team last season after racking up 47 points in 82 games. Jack has made the All-Star team in each of the past three seasons.
Now, the Hughes’ trio will be the first set of brothers to grace the cover of a major sports video game. This is the second time in three years that EA Sports has featured multiple cover athletes. Trevor Zegras of the Anaheim Ducks and Sarah Nurse of the Canadian women’s national team were on the cover of NHL 23.
NHL 25 will be available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
