Arkansas, John Calipari Land Ex-Tennessee Star Jonas Aidoo in Transfer Coup

by News7

John Calipari has been busy buffing up the Arkansas roster ever since he took over as coach of the Razorbacks following his departure from Kentucky. He’s already brought some standout talent to Fayetteville, and he’s now secured the commitment of another prized transfer portal product.

Arkansas has reportedly received a commitment from former Tennessee star Jonas Aidoo, who figures to join the Razorbacks after a strong junior season in Knoxville, according to a report from Matt Norlander of CBS Sports.

In 2023-24, Aidoo featured in 36 games for the Volunteers, starting all 36. He averaged 11.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting at a 51.5% clip from the field. Coming off a campaign that saw him selected to the All-SEC Defensive Team, the 6’11” Aidoo should provide Arkansas with some interior scoring and some lockdown rim protection.

Calipari acquired a Razorbacks roster that was entirely depleted, with the whole team departing after the 2023-24 season. He’s moved quickly to lure some of the Wildcats’ incoming recruiting class to Fayetteville, and now has another significant addition with Aidoo reportedly joining the program.
