Video: Simone Biles Attends US Open After 2024 Olympics, Talks ‘Electric’ Atmosphere

Luke Hales/Getty ImagesSimone Biles has spent much of her life competing on some of the grandest stages sports has to offer, but she took the opportunity to be a fan on Wednesday.

The gymnastics legend attended the 2024 U.S. Open and watched a women’s singles quarterfinals match between Iga Świątek and Jessica Pegula.

“So far it’s been electric,” she said of the atmosphere. “It’s a lot quieter than I anticipated, but it’s an absolutely beautiful atmosphere.”

She pointed out that she is a fan of Świątek’s, adding, “to come here and watch her work is just a blessing and an honor.”

Świątek came up short, though, as Pegula advanced to the semifinals with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over the top seed. She will face Karolína Muchová in that semifinals and figures to have plenty of crowd support as one of a number of Americans still alive in the country’s biggest tournament.

Emma Navarro is from the United States and will face Aryna Sabalenka in the other women’s semifinals match, and there is guaranteed to be an American in the men’s singles final because Francis Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz are facing each other in the semifinals.

As for Biles, she has been on quite the tour as a sports fan since thriving at the 2024 Paris Olympics:

She certainly earned the chance to take it all in during the aftermath of the Games given her brilliant performance in Paris.

She captured gold in the women’s team event, women’s all-around and women’s vault competitions. She also won silver in the women’s floor exercise, giving her 11 Olympic medals in her illustrious career.

Perhaps there will be more to come in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, but Biles is happy being a fan of other sports for now.
