Who the Saints have taken in the Senior Bowl

On Saturday, Feb. 3, the 76th annual Senior Bowl will take place. Many top college football prospects are expected to compete in anticipation of the NFL draft.

Like every other team in the league, the New Orleans Saints are expected to attend. Here’s how the team has fared with their selections of senior bowl prospects.

Coming out of a small school (University of Arkansas Pine Bluff), Armstead earned a late invite to the bowl in 2013. He was named to the Senior Bowl 75th anniversary team.

“Under scouted during the regular season,” the Senior Bowl website says, “Terron gained attention at the East-West Shrine Game with his athleticism and long arms.”

Saints scouts must’ve liked what they saw, as they took him in the third round of the draft that year. With the Saints, Armstead would be a three-time Pro Bowler and one-time second-team All-Pro. In his 97 games played for New Orleans, Armstead would allow just 20 sacks.

In the 2022 offseason, he signed with the Miami Dolphins.

Elected to the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame in 2021, Cam Jordan has been a vital piece of Saints history. Jordan was also named to the 75th anniversary team.

The defensive end out of California has played 220 games so far in his career. Throughout his tenure with the Saints, he has amassed a team record 118.5 sacks. According to the team website, Jordan has also reached 668 total tackles, 64 passes defended, and three interceptions.

The second-year quarterback out of Fresno St. was the MVP of the 2023 Senior Bowl. Despite Haener’s limited NFL play thus far, the coaching staff in New Orleans has consistently praised him. It should be intriguing to see how he pans out now with competition in the form of Spencer Rattler, who played in last year’s Senior Bowl.
