Oryon cores are coming at the end of 2024 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4
Qualcomm first officially announced at the Snapdragon Summit that the Oryon cores debuting in the Snapdragon X Elite would be brought to the mobile segment in 2024, which would most likely be in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. It should then be used in flagships like the Xiaomi 15 or the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in 2025 and boost the performance/efficiency ratio in particular.
Naturally, the performance of a presumably slimmed-down mobile CPU cannot be directly inferred from that of the 12-core computing monster from the PC sector that has a TDP of up to 80 watts, but the already promised single-core CPU performance compared to the Apple M2 should be enough to also catapult smartphones into a whole new dimension in 2025, especially since Qualcomm still has one year to optimize the Oryon cores for even lower power consumption. One thing is for sure: Waiting could be worthwhile, especially for performance fans.
