Celtics’ Jayson Tatum Teases Biggest Season Yet: ‘You Haven’t Seen the Best Version’

Maddie Malhotra/Getty ImagesBoston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has already put together a stellar resume, but he believes he hasn’t yet reached his ceiling.

While speaking to NBC Sports Boston during Tuesday’s media day, Tatum made a declaration that should keep the rest of the NBA on its toes.

“I just always feel like overall I can still get better. You haven’t seen the best version of Jayson Tatum,” he said. “And you shouldn’t, right? I’m only 26, I should continue to keep getting better.”

Tatum is a five-time All-Star and three-time All-NBA first-team selection. He helped lead the Celtics to their 18th NBA championship in franchise history last season and he was a member of Team USA’s gold medal team at the Paris Olympics. He will also be one of the stars in the upcoming Starting 5 documentary series on Netflix.

Tatum added that the approach to the 2024-25 season is different now that the Celtics are the defending champions.

“It does feel different being up here as a champion and knowing what it takes and wanting to be on the top of the mountain as many times as you can,” Tatum told reporters.
