Use of AR, VR and AI tools across the healthcare landscape

by News7

Technology is a key catalyst in the drive to transform healthcare.

Improving patient experiences and outcomes, reducing risks and enhancing medical training and patient education are just a few of the contributions of cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality.

Effectively harnessing technology advancements in healthcare must, however, address the real needs of patients, according to Jess Rengstorf, director of U.S. Healthcare Strategy at Endava, a London-based software and technology-services company specializing in digital transformation and automation.

In applying VR, AR and AI to care experiences, healthcare providers can achieve continuous and more complete patient monitoring, intervene earlier when diseases or conditions arise, and better personalize care, she said.

But, collaborative development is a key component when creating and implementing new technologies that achieve these higher purposes.

“I think that we need to engage cross-disciplinary teams when we are developing some of these AI solutions to make sure that we are meeting the needs of everyone involved and really centering on patients,” she explained in this week’s podcast.
