Georgia will likely to be without running back Trevor Etienne for Saturday’s season opener against Clemson.

Per Matt Zenitz and Richard Johnson of 247Sports, Etienne is expected to be held out of the game stemming from his arrest during the offseason.

Etienne was arrested on March 24 and charged with DUI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane/improper driving on the road and affixing materials that reduce visibility of windows/windshield.

The charges of Charges of DUI less safe and DUI under 21 against Etienne were dropped as part of a plea deal agreed upon in July. He pleaded no contest reckless driving and guilty to underage possession of alcohol, failure to maintain lane and a window tint violation.

Etienne was sentenced to 12 months of probation, 40 hours of community service, a fine and is required to complete a substance abuse evaluation. He is also subject to random drug and alcohol screenings.

The 20-year-old is the younger brother of Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne. He transferred to Georgia in December after playing the previous two seasons at Florida.

Etienne was a dynamic playmaker for the Gators. He racked up 1,710 yards from scrimmage and 15 total touchdowns on 279 touches in 24 games since the start of the 2022 season.

The Bulldogs are already expected to be without Roderick Robinson II due to a toe injury that required surgery, per ESPN’s Mark Schlabach.

This leaves Branson Robinson and Nate Frazier as the running backs likely to receive most of the work for head coach Kirby Smart against Clemson. Branson is returning after missing all of last season due to a ruptured patellar tendon.

Frazier is a true freshman who was a 4-star prospect and No. 2 running back recruit in the 2024 class, per 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Georgia enters the season ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the second straight year. The Bulldogs have a 42-2 record since the start of the 2021 season.
